Like all other matter on the planet earth, I’ve been here a while, maybe forever in one form or another. I think I was part of a volcanic lava pit some centuries ago and I tell others I was once part of the Roman Coliseum but nobody believes me. For now, I’m just a piece of sidewalk in a largely populated urban sprawl. Last Saturday night, some guy in a Porsche parked on the street right next to me and got out of his car. He was looking dapper and I’m guessing he was there to pick up his date. He grabbed a bottle of wine out of his trunk and turned to walk over me and go into the building. But his foot caught the curb and the bottle went flying and broke right on me with wine splattered all over me. He also dropped the two glasses but for some reason they didn’t break. He was pissed and beside himself but his mistake was my delight. Finally, something other than spit! The wine was a very nice medium pink color and smelled like strawberries and blackberries. I know because I’ve had those dropped on me before. As it soaked into me it was very smooth and even had a little zip to it. It was somewhat light but still soaked into me very nicely. After tasting something like that I was able to endure people walking over me with no pain for the next day or so. They may tear me out of here tomorrow or I may be here for a long time. If I am, here’s hoping for more klutzy wine drinkers tripping over that curb and dropping bottles of wine like that all over me. Cheers!
