Review by A Tree Leaf
Last Thursday afternoon a dramatic thing happened to me. I was attached to a tree branch where I had been for a couple months and suddenly a wicked wind whipped up. I held on for dear life but was torn off the tree and started floating through the air. I swirled around being blown by the wind for a little bit and then managed to descend toward the ground. As I looked down (yes, leaves can see), I saw a couple sitting on a blanket having a picnic with some food and a bottle of wine. The wind let up for a second and I gently landed right in the middle of a wine glass filled with wine. We leaves don’t live that long so this was quite an experience. Once in a while we’ll be laying on the ground and someone will spill wine on us (or a dog will urinate on us but that’s another story) but landing in a glass filled with wine is the ultimate. When I first hit the glass the wine was somewhat light with hints of raspberry, leather and asparagus (maybe I smelled the asparagus because I’m a leaf). As the wine soaked into me it had some black cherry, medium acidity, tannic for a Pinot and its flavors stayed on me for a while. The couple was making out so I stayed in the glass for quite some time and by the time the woman took me out of the glass I was soaked and ready for a long nap on the grass. The wine was good and it was a nice soak. It’s time to get some shut-eye. Here’s hoping the dogs stay away.
