Budget Wines
BUDGET WINES
All have been tasted by Mike (and he’s still alive to talk about it)
Please keep in mind that most wines taste at least half-way decent. You won’t find many that taste horrific, relatively speaking. If your budget is really tight, pour the wine into a decanter and pretend it’s a Grand Cru Classe from Bourdeaux. After the fifth glass you’ll never know the difference.
Wines that taste decent for those on a tight budget – usually less than $5.00
Californian Reds
2007 Tres Pinos Tierra Roja – $4.99 – American Red Blend (hey, three different grapes in one)
2006 Falcon Ridge Syrah – $2.99 – American Red (remember, it’s TWO ninety nine)
2007 Snapping Turtle Cabernet Sauvignon $7.99 – California Red (it doesn’t snap too hard)
Charles Shaw aka Two Buck Chuck – $1.99 – multiple varieties – multiple years (no, I’m not kidding)
2007 Arrow Creek Meritage $6.99 – California Red
NV R.H. Phillips Night Harvest Cabernet Sauvignon $6.99 – California Red
NV Gold Rush Red Sierra Foothills Red Wine $3.99 – California Red
Argentinean Reds
2009 Terrenal Cabernet Sauvignon $3.99 – Mendoza Argentina Red (hard to beat for the price)
2009 Trapiche Malbec – $4.99 – Mendoza Argentina Red – (it’s Malbec from Argentina, that’s all I gotta say)
Chilean Reds
2009 Panilonco Reserve Carmenere $3.99 – Colchagua Valley Chile Red – again, real good stuff for the price. There are some good value wines from Chile out there.
French Reds
2007 Caves des Papes Cotes Du Rhone Red Wine – $4.99 – French Red
2007 Blason De Bourgogne Pinot Noir – $7.99 – French Red
2007 Chateau Moulin de Beausejour Bordeaux Superieur $6.99 – French Red
Italian Reds
2003, 2004 Gaetano D’Aquino Chianti Riserva Red Wine – $4.99 – Italian Red (hey, if you can’t pronounce the name it’s gotta be good)
2006 Aquila D’Oro Toscano Rosso $3.99 – Italian Red
2006 La Loggia Barbera D’Alba $5.99 – Italian Red (another Italian Red with a name you can’t pronounce…do you sense a trend here?)

2008 Il Valore Sangiovese $3.99 – Italian Red
2008 Il Valore Marchese De Petri Sangiovese $4.99 – Italian Red – I know it’s cheap but it’s just not real good. Lo sciento (or something like that).
Australian Reds
2008 the Little Penguin Cabernet Sauvignon $5.00 – Australian Red
2008 the Little Penguin Shiraz $5.99 – South Eastern Australia
Spanish Reds
