Robledo Family Winery in Carneros Sonoma
Robledo is located right off Hwy 116 (Arnold Dr), the main road leading into Carneros/Sonoma. Carneros is a beautiful area of vineyards located 45 miles north of San Francisco on the San Pablo Bay. Carneros overlaps both Napa and Sonoma and is known for its ocean breezes which cool down the grapes at night and provide ideal conditions for great Chardonnay and Pinot Noir among other varieties. Robledo was started by Reynaldo Robledo, a Mexican migrant worker who spent three decades working in vineyards. The family eventually purchased fourteen vineyards totaling approximately 200 acres. While they sell a large portion of the grapes they harvest they now produce their own wines. I tasted a variety of their wines and they were all good. Ironically, it was the friendly folks at B.R. Cohn that recommended I visit Robledo and I’m glad they did. The tasting room in the back has a very friendly atmosphere and I would definitely recommend it to anybody visiting Carneros.
